The College at Brockport Golden Eagles Women’s Cross Country team, currently listed in the also receiving votes section of the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings, will travel to Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to compete in the 35th Annual Brooks Paul Short Run on Friday, October 3rd, with the race starting at 2:30 pm. As one of the largest cross country competitions in the country, the Brooks Paul Short Run will feature the top college and high school runners from across the country.

The Women’s Cross Country team will compete in the White Race or the race designated for non-Division I women’s college runners. The Golden Eagles will feature seven runners in the race competing against teams from NAIA and NCAA Division I, II and III, as well as Junior Colleges.

In 1969, Lehigh University Hall of Fame coach John Covert recruited seven colleges to race in honor of the late Paul Short, a cross country enthusiast who served as Lehigh University’s business manager of athletics. The Brooks Paul Short Run has grown to include more than 2,000 runners from 90 colleges and 55 high schools.

In the women’s field of competition, five ranked Division III teams will be competing, including SUNY Cortland (ranked #14), Messiah College (#27) and three teams that are also receiving votes in this week’s poll (Swarthmore College, Brockport and Haverford College).
