New York University won the men’s competition with 47 points and five of the top 17 finishers, while Case Western Reserve won the women’s race with 60 points and three runners among the top 10. St. Lawrence University was third in the women’s race and fourth in the men’s race.
Avery finished the 8K course in 25:47, followed by Pete Manktelow (Hornell, NY/Hornell) in 52nd with a time of 25:54. Freshman Augie Oetting (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) was the next Brockport finisher in 83rd place, followed by Mike Vrabel (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) in 121st and Mike Cocquyt (Hilton, NY/Hilton) in 132nd place.
For the women, Mesi completed the 6K course with a time of 22:48, while sophomore Brittany Streeter (Oneida, NY/Oneida) was 62nd in 23:24. Freshman Jen Fasciano (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) was 73rd (23:34), Caitlin McAneney (Hornell, NY/Hornell) was 76th (23:38) and Julia Ruggiero (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) finished 97th with a time of 23:56.
