Streeter Paces Women's Cross Country to Second Place at Geneseo Invite

The women’s cross country team finished second at the 29th Annual Geneseo Invitational Saturday morning by scoring 92 points to finish behind Geneseo’s 41. Junior Brittany Streeter (Oneida, NY/Oneida) paced the Golden Eagles with a ninth-place finish in 23:03 over the six kilometers at Letchworth State Park in Mt. Morris out of 216 runners. Senior Lauren Mesi (East Aurora, NY/Clarence) ran 11th in 23:11 for Brockport, Caitlin McAneny (Hornell, NY/Hornell) was 17th in 23:36, Melissa Wassiuk (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) was 26th in 24:00, and Ashley Beyer (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) rounded out the scoring five with a time of 24:17.

The men’s team finished sixth out of 24 teams at the Geneseo Invite in an eight-kilometers race. Junior Matt Avery (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili ) led the Golden Eagles with a 21st place finish in 26:20 out of 283 runners. Junior Ryan Gilmore (Auburn, NY/Auburn ) finished in 26:46, Greg Selka (North Chili, NY/Churchville-Chili) finished in 27:16, Bradley Frink (Canastota, NY/Canastota) crossed in 27:26, and Josh Coon (Brockport, NY/Brockport) completed the top five in 28:05.

The two teams compete again on Oct. 10th when they run at the Hamilton College Invitational.
