Women Fourth, Men Sixth at Cross Country Championships
Lauren Mesi Earns All-SUNYAC and Hall of Fame Status October 31, 2009
 Lauren Mesi finished third at the Cross Country SUNYAC Championships.(credit: Jim Wassink) Senior Lauren Mesi (East Aurora, NY/Clarence) earned First Team All-SUNYAC and was added into the Cross County Hall of Fame and she finished third overall in the SUNYAC Championships with a time of 23:32.
Mesi is the fifth female runner at The College of Brockport to earn Hall of Fame status and the first since 2007. To make the SUNYAC Cross Country Hall of Fame, runners must finish in the top five at the SUNYAC Championships once, the top 10 twice, or the top 15 three times.
Mesi led the women’s team to a fourth-place finish with 107 points out of nine teams. The men’s team took sixth place.
Sophomore Melissa Wassink (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) was 16th in the field of 99 runners in a time of 24:31 and Ashley Beyer (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) crossed the finish line in 22nd in 24:47. Jen Fasciano (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) and Caitlin McAneney (Hornell, NY/Hornell) completed the scoring five in 25:25 and 25:27, respectively.
Junior Matt Avery (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) led the Brockport men with a 16th-place finish in 26:27 over the eight kilometer course. Ryan Gilmore (Auburn, NY/Auburn) finished 30th out of 119 runners in 27:19 and Brad Frink (Canastota, NY/Canastota) ran the course in 27:32.
Next up for the Golden Eagles are the Atlantic Regional races Nov. 14 at Letchworth State Park.
