The Department of Biological sciences offers two undergraduate majors, and one undergraduate minor. Below are brief program descriptions and links to more detailed fact sheets:
Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences - The major in biological sciences prepares students for graduate study, entrance into a professional school such as medicine or dentistry, or a career in industry. Within this major, students often choose one of the department's concentrations: biotechnology, pre-medicine or teacher preparation.
Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology - The major in medical technology prepares students for a technical career in medical laboratories. It involves three years of course work at SUNY Brockport, followed by a clinical year of both practical and theoretical work in a medical laboratory.
Biological Sciences Minor - This minor is designed for non-biology majors who either have a general interest in biology or wish to supplement their studies with a particular set of biology courses. Students majoring in health science or physical education and those seeking a teaching certificate often select the biological sciences minor.
