Brockport / BPMACS Scholarships

Brockport Physics, Mathematics
and Computer Science Scholarships
for Juniors, Seniors and Graduate Students

The College has received a grant of $600,000 from the National Science Foundation to provide 25 scholarships of $5,400/year for juniors, seniors and graduate students majoring in physics, mathematics or computer science. This NSF program provides institutions with funds for student scholarships to encourage and enable the achievement of higher education degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics by talented but financially disadvantaged students.

Scholarship funds can be used for expenses normally incurred by full-time students - including tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment. These scholarships are awarded on a semester-by-semester basis. Students making satisfactory progress in their degree program during the fall semester (defined as a GPA of 3.0 both overall and in their major for the semester) will have their scholarships continued during the spring semester.

Eligibility Criteria for BPMACS Scholarships:

  1. Students must be matriculated at The College at Brockport as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours for an undergraduate and 9 credit hours for a graduate) majoring in physics, mathematics or computer science.
  2. Students must have completed a total of at least 55 credits by the beginning of the fall 2014 semester if an undergraduate student (no graduate work required for graduate students).
  3. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 in both their major and overall college course work, or a GPA of 3.20 in both their major and overall college course work during their last two semesters.
  4. Students must complete a FAFSA form and establish financial need based upon eligibility as defined by the US Department of Education rules for financial aid.
  5. Students must be a U.S. citizen, national, alien admitted as a refugee at time of application, or an alien admitted for permanent residence.
