How to Waive
Mandatory Student Health Insurance Plan

The College at Brockport requires all full time undergraduate and graduate students (12 or more credits) to have health insurance. If you have insurance with comparable coverage and wish to waive the mandatory student health insurance plan, you must complete the waiver process online. An online waiver must be completed at the beginning of each academic year (prior to the established deadline).

Fall 2011 insurance waivers must be completed by SEPTEMBER 27, 2011 (only new first-time students are eligible for spring-only coverage/waivers).  Failure to complete the waiver process by the stated deadlines will result in the insurance charge remaining on the student account and the policy being in effect for the 2011-2012 policy period.

Please note: you must use your College at Brockport ID number, not your Social Security Number, when completing the online waiver. Have your insurance card information on hand, as it will be needed to complete the waiver.

  1. Access Aetna at www.aetnastudenthealth.com
  2. Click on the “Students” tab located at the upper left of the homepage
  3. Select “Find Your School”
  4. Enter either the policy number (812826) or school name then click on link listed under “Search Results”
  5. Select “Medical Plan: Enroll/Waive” from the menu at left
  6. Click on "Waive Here: Student Health Insurance Plan"
  7. Follow the prompts to complete the electronic waiver transaction
  8. Retain the confirmation number for your records

You will be allowed two (2) tries to complete the waiver online. If, after the second attempt, you have been unsuccessful, contact Aetna for assistance.
