Eligibility for New York state tuition rates is based upon the student being a permanent resident of New York state. Living in New York state to attend college does not make a person a permanent resident of New York state. A person does not acquire a New York state domicile only by being physically present in New York for the sole purpose of attending college, nor by being physically present in New York state for a period of twelve months. Please click on the link below for an application and for more information on applying for residency status for tuition purposes.
The completed application must be notarized and submitted to The College at Brockport, Office of Student Accounts and Accounting, Attn: Residency Officer, 350 New Campus Drive, Brockport, NY 14420-2938, by the last day of the late add period of the semester in which the applicant is seeking New York residency status. Failure to submit an application by the deadline will result in full out-of-state tuition liability for that term. Applications submitted after the deadline may be considered for the following term. Applications should include appropriate forms of documentation as indicated on the application. Proof of residency is the responsibility of the student.
NOTE: Information presented on this page and in the attached application supersedes printed information in the 2007-2009 Undergraduate and Graduate College Catalogs. The College at Brockport enforces the SUNY policy "Residency, Establishment of for Tuition Purposes" (Document 7810, effective September 20, 2005; http://www.suny.edu/sunypp/documents.cfm?doc_id=402).
Questions should be directed to Kari Olson, Staff Assistant, Office of Student Accounts and Accounting, by calling kolson@brockport.edu.
