Dr. Baban Hasnat is Professor and Area Coordinator of International Business at The College at Brockport, State University of New York. Prior to joining the faculty at Brockport in 1990, he received his B.S. and M.S.in Economics from Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh; M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville; and post-doctoral training in International Business at University at Buffalo. The past positions that Dr. Hasnat held include: Lecturer in Economics, Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka and Assistant Professor in Economics, Morehead State University, Kentucky. He has lectured as a visiting professor at the Singapore Institute of Management, Rochester Institute of Technology, and North South University in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
His works have appeared, among others, in the Journal of Economic Issues , the Applied Economics Letters , the Journal of Transnational Corporations , the Financial Practice and Education , the Atlantic Economic Review, and International Business Review . He has contributed chapters in two books: The Grameen Bank: Poverty Relief in Bangladesh and Great Events from History II: Business and Commerce , Vol. 2 . He has presented at numerous conferences such as the Association for Evolutionary Economics, the Academy of International Business, and the American Economic Association. His research interests are foreign investment, trade policy, business ethics, and business education. His teaching interests are International Business Environment, International Financial Management, International Economics, Economic Theory, and Introductory Statistics.
He received a Fulbright grant in 2001 for teaching and research in Bangladesh. In 2011, Dr. Hasnat received SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. He has been nominated for the U.S. Professors of the Year in 2011.
