Rong Yang, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Accounting

 Rong Yang joined the faculty of SUNY Brockport in 2004. She has both a Ph.D. in Accounting and an M.B.A. in Management from Rutgers, State University of New Jersey.  Also she has an M.S. and a B.S. in Accounting from Tianjin University of Finance and Economics in China.

Dr. Yang teaches financial accounting, intermediate accounting and accounting information system. Her research interests include the use of accounting information in capital markets, analyst forecast performance, corporate governance, CEO compensation, institutional trading in emerging markets, economics distress and restructuring events.

She has published articles in several journals including Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of Marketing, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Research in Accounting Regulation, and Journal of Financial Regulation and Compliance. One of her articles (with Dr. Yaw Mensah, Rutgers University) was awarded the 2006 MBAA International McGraw-Hill/Irwin Distinguished Paper Award by the North American Accounting Society.  She has presented her research at a number of national and international conferences.

In her spare time, Dr. Yang enjoys movies, music, gardening and time with her family.
