Graduate Programs in Accounting
(Starting in Fall 2009)
The purpose of these programs is to serve our mission of “student success” and educate qualified students to ensure graduates are prepared to serve the business community and the public trust. The programs will provide qualified students with the opportunity to pursue licensure as a New York Certified Public Accountant. Depending on the program selected, students may be interested in pursuing other available certifications as well. Students are expected to have an undergraduate degree in Accounting or its equivalent. Those without the necessary undergraduate preparation will need to make up any deficiencies prior to entering the program. For those who have an undergraduate degree from outside New York state, please go to this website to determine the eligibility of your credits for New York Certified Public Accountant exam.
Each program is organized as ten three-credit-hour courses. Four of the ten required courses provide advanced education in accounting subjects. The remaining six courses cover related business topics that are largely addressed on the Uniform CPA Examination, including decision sciences, finance, economics, entrepreneurship, management information systems, and business law. Courses will be offered in the late afternoon and evening.
We will admit students both fall and spring semesters. Non-matriculated students will not be permitted into the courses. The application deadline for fall 2009 is July 15, and for spring semester is November 15, 2009.
