Many faculty use Career Services publications as part of their courses. Master copies of individual handouts for reproduction are available at the Career Links A-Z on the left side of this page, and additional publications are available by contacting us.

Computer-Assisted Guidance Programs

Career Information

Career Services houses an excellent library with over 800 career-related publications and resources. Students research information on careers, graduate schools, internships and summer jobs, prospective employers, and job vacancy announcements. No appointment is necessary. Career Services is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. (or 4 p.m. in the summer). Career advisers are on duty from noon to 2 pm, and by appointment. JobShop
link to JobShop Search our popular Internet database of jobs and internships. Use your full email address and career as your user id and password to get started. We recommend the Job Search Agent to have notices of jobs of interest to your graduates e-mailed to you.

Employer Hosting
We frequently invite faculty members to join us in hosting recruiters during a lunch break. Contact us if you are interested.

Referrals and Letters of Reference
Credential files containing letters of recommendation are handled by the Office of Registration and Records. They may be reached at (585) 395-5390. The office web site is http://www.brockport.edu/registrar/credentials.html.

Syllabus
Please send us a copy of your syllabus and any instructions related to assignments involving Career Services so that we are aware of requirements and their corresponding dates. This will also enable us to better respond to students who might not understand their assignments.

What you can do for us. . .


  • Use career-related topics and assignments with your students.
  • Explore career issues with your students and advisees and refer students to us as appropriate.
  • Keep us in mind as you speak with employers who may hire graduates, current students or interns. Our JobShop system will advertise all of these openings, and we are happy to invite employers to our job fairs and to recruit on campus.
  • Announce job fairs, recruiters and other career-related events in your classes and encourage participation.
  • Encourage students to use part-time jobs and internships to gain experience.
