They can also help lead you towards choosing a major and career. Career Services can assist you in this discovery process. We offer a wide range of career assessments that will highlight your unique characteristics. We also recommend meeting with one of our career counselors to assist you through this process of career discovery.


 

 

 

MyPlan

MyPlan is an online career planning site that uses personality, skills, interests, and values inventories to help you learn about yourself, majors, and careers. All currently enrolled Brockport students, as well as alumni, faculty, or staff may use MyPlan at no charge. (Click here to use MyPlan)

To use MyPlan:

  • Register using your Brockport email address as your username (alumni use your current email address) and any password you choose.
  • Fill in the required information.
  • When asked for the license code, enter: MGSU2RLY (expires 1-09-15)
  • Please keep the box checked that says "Share results with career advisor?" This will allow Career Services advisors to review your results and better assist you with your choices.
  • Once you have completed registration, a confirmation email will be sent to you. Click on the link in the email to activate your account.
  • You can then login and begin with the Assessments tab. Make sure to complete all of the assessments.
  • Once you complete your assessment, we recommend you meet with an counselor in Career Services to fully explore your results.

Additional Career Assesments

Strong Interest Inventory is a career assessment that is based on John Holland's theory that groups people and careers into six interest areas. Based on your responses to the questions, this assessment provides interest, occupational, and major information.

Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an assessment based on Isabel Myers and Briggs research on personality using 16 personality types to help you explore your personality and the types of careers that may be a good fit.

Evaluate Results - To take and recieve feedback on both the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) it is required that you make an appointment with one of our career counselors. To make an appointment, call Career Services at (585) 395-2159 or stop by our office in 101 Rakov on the main Brockport campus or at the Career Services office located in the MetroCenter.
