advisors.

Register for the Brockport Career Exploration Course
(BCEC) for an internship in a career field.

Take courses or attend workshops in areas where
transferable skills will be gained (e.g., communication, computer,
foreign languages or marketing courses).

Participate in a study-abroad program.

Use your part-time job to gain valuable work experience.
RELEVANT/PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE

JOB SEARCH/GRADUATE SCHOOL PREPARATION

interview preparation, strategies for job search, how to work a job
fair and how to research graduate schools.

Register for JobShop, participate in on-campus
interviewing opportunities, and attend the Fall and Spring Jobs and
Internships Fair held on campus.

Attend the Rochester Area Career Expo and the SUNY-
wide job fair.

Check the Career Services Workshop calendar for
other events that allow you to network.

Attend the fall Graduate School Fair held at Brockport.

Schedule a practice GRE, GMAT, MCAT, LSAT to determine
your strengths/weaknesses on these graduate school entry exams.

Review your résumé and cover letter
with a career advisor in Career Services.

Inquire in the Office of Registration and Records
about opening a credential file.

Select your references and ask their permission
to use their names or ask them to write letters for you.
