Economics Minor


Economics is the study of behaviors of market participants. The minor in economics provides students with an overview of the fundamental concepts of the discipline. When combined with an appropriate major, the minor in economics is excellent preparation for students who are planning to take the CFA, CMA and CPA exams. 

Admission to the Program

Any undergraduate student may declare this minor except students majoring in international business and economics.

Program Requirements

All students pursuing the minor in accounting are bound by the policies, terms, and conditions proscribed for study in the School of Business Administration and Economics.

The minor in economics consists of 18 credits outlined below. A minimum of 9 credits of course work must be completed at Brockport. A student's cumulative GPA in the Brockport courses used to satisfy requirements of the minor must be at least 2.0

Reqired Courses for all students in the minor:

  • ECN201 Principles of Economics - Microeconomics
  • ECN202 Principles of Economics - Macroeconomics
  • ECN302 Intermediate Macroeconomics

Additional Requirements for students who major in accounting, business administration, finance or marketing:

  • ECN304 Intermediate Statistics
