Biography:
Randy Moredock is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Mental
Health Counselor who has been at the Counseling Center for the past twenty-five
years. During that time, his therapeutic emphasis has grown to incorporate both
traditional counseling theories (e.g., client-centered, psychodynamic,
existential) and systems (i.e., family) theories. The latter ideas are based on
the notion that there are numerous "causes" of problems and an equal
number of ways to approach and address problems. Somewhere within the various
causes are "stuck places", and Dr. Moredock works with students to help
them identify those places and develop a strategy to move forward. While he
considers himself a generalist (i.e., sees a broad range of clients), Dr. Moredock
specializes in couples therapy and assisting students from disruptive families.
Since the best helper finds ways to rest and rejuvenate, Dr. Moredock can often be found
watching a vintage movie, reading an entertaining book, listening to jazz, cheering for the
Pittsburgh Steelers, or engaged in his practice of yoga.
