Biography:
Darlene Schmitt is the Assistant Director of the Counseling Center and a Licensed Mental Health
Counselor in the state of New York. She joined the staff in 2003. Prior to working at The College
at Brockport, staff she worked in a variety of mental health settings including outpatient substance
abuse, criminal justice, community mental health, and private practice. Ms. Schmitt earned a MSEd.
in Counselor Education from The College at Brockport and is a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance
Abuse Counselor in the State of New York. She is a generalist who enjoys working with all kinds
of students and issues, and her particular professional interests include anxiety, depression,
bipolar disorder, women’s issues, and cognitive behavioral therapy. In her spare time she enjoys
her three kids, spending time with friends, anything outdoors, reading, and music.
