Programs for Teachers

The faculty and staff of the Department of Chemistry are committed to student learning and therefore have a vested interest in other teaching professionals at all levels. We offer a variety of programs including graduate level coursework and workshops, some of which may be used towards Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits.

Graduate Courses for College Credit

Every other summer Dr. Ken Schlecht offers a course on chemistry demonstrations that is open to anyone who meets the prerequisite, but is generally populated by middle and high school teachers interested in expanding their teaching styles. See the course description below:

NAS 695 Chemical Lecture Demonstrations. Prerequisite: 12-15 credits in chemistry. Helps teachers use, develop, and practice chemistry lecture demonstrations. Participants obtain detailed instructions and practice several demonstrations and present them to their classmates. 1 Cr.

Please contact Ken Schlecht if you have suggestions or interest in future programs of this nature.
