Science Laboratory Safety

My Mission

As Chemical Hygiene Coordinator for the Sciences (CHC) of The College at Brockport, I support the Departments of Biological Sciences (BIO), Chemistry (CHM), Earth Science (ESC), Environmental Science & Biology (ENV), and Physics (PHS) with respect to issues regarding the safe procurement, storage, usage and disposal of chemicals used in the laboratories. I provide consultation on all aspects of the safe usage of chemicals, as well as compliance with the various standards, generate and implement a variety of safety programs to help nurture a culture of safety, and act as a liaison between the Sciences and the Environmental Health & Safety Office (EHS).

My goal is to provide support that will positively impact the learning and working conditions of the faculty, staff and students working in the various laboratories in Lennon and Smith Halls.

Website Mission

The sites accessible through this one are meant to provide valuable reference materials to the faculty, staff and students of the BIO, CHM, ESC, ENV & PHS Departments with regard to laboratory safety issues. Many of the sites are still "under construction", but where there are not active links, there are key words and lists acting as placeholders. If you are looking for a particular piece of information that has not been posted as of yet, please contact me and I will be happy to assist you directly. I will be making additions as time allows, so check back for updates!

Also, if you have any valuable safety related references you would like to share, please contact me and I will try to connect them as soon as possible.
