Department of Communication

ABC News correspondent John Quinoñes joined Professor Carvin Eison
and alumni Tariq Spence ’99 and Jason Torreano ’07 for a panel discussion at the
campus’ 2009 Diversity Conference in September. (clockwise from top left: John Quinones,
Quinones, Eison and Torreano, Torreano with Professor Kate Madden, Tariq Spence and President John Halstead.)

Human communication ranges from the one-on-one encounter to the broadcasting of ideas and information to millions through the mass media. The two majors offered by the Department of Communication provide an extensive sampling of the full variety of communication activities--in theory, practical application and performance--in radio, television, internet, newspaper, magazines, advertising, rhetoric and public relations.

The College at Brockport is a member of the Broadcast Education Association of the National Association of Broadcasters, the National Communication Association and the Eastern Communication Association. The department sponsors a chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the Communication Honor Society.
