The CMST Institute is a joint venture by SUNY Brockport, the Rochester City School District and the Brighton Central School District. It is supported by a National Science Foundation Math and Science Partnership grant. The CMST Institute cooperates with SUNY Brockport in undergraduate and graduate level programs. The CMST faculty also provide training and mentoring on CMST modeling throughout the year for the participants in the Summer Institute.
The CMST project is based on the premise that, more than anything else, improving teacher quality will help improve student achievement across all age groups. Our main strategy is to train at least 145 middle and high school teachers as well as some teacher candidates and MST faculty at the college. Under the coordination and organization of the CMST Institute, a multi-institutional organization, we will offer the components listed below . Raising the quality of MST teachers is at the heart of our efforts.
