There are a variety of social media options that can be used to enhance the presence of campus offices and departments. Some examples are Facebook, Twitter, blogs, Wikis, YouTube, Google+, and Flickr.
Tufts University has shared some key principles about social media that we think are awesome. They should help inform our strategy when it comes to implementing and using social media tools. They are:
On their site Tufts encourages people to "Think Twice, Publish Once," meaning take that extra moment or two to make sure what you are about to post is appropriate, useful and engaging. We think this is a motto to live by.

If you would like to start a social media project, please contact College Communications to review best practices before you launch the project. We also invite you to join our Social Media User Group, an informal monthly gathering designed to share tips, tricks and trends in social media, as well as connect with others who are maintaining social media sites on campus. We meet the first Thursday of each month from 9-10 am.
