College Senate

Submitting your Proposal for Consideration as a College Senate Resolution


DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: FEBRUARY 28
(submitted proposals must be in completed form - incomplete proposals will be returned)

  • Complete and insert the Senate cover page as the first page of your proposal . Please use the updated cover form provided here for your convenience. Complete one cover page for each proposal.

  • Merge the cover sheet, proposal and all attachments into one document before submitting it to the Senate office. Incomplete or unmerged proposals containing multiple attachments may be returned to the originator. Click here for help on merging.

  • Submit individual proposals as one document electronically in Word format using committee guidelines (linked below) to the College Senate Office, senate@brockport.edu, or on a diskette with a hard copy of the document. Do not send your proposal directly to the committee. It must be documented and logged in at the Senate office prior to any review by committee. NOTE: Send General Education Proposals to the Vice Provost's office first. See special instructions below.

  • Submit all completed proposals before last week of February. Proposals received after the deadline may need to be tabled until next term due to insufficient time to process them before May.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MERGING DOCUMENTS

    1. Open, fill out and save the Proposal Cover Form
    2. "Save" using a file name other than Proposal Cover Form
    3. Move your cursor to the next blank page
    4. On the tool bar, select "Insert"
    5. On the drop down menu, select "file"
    6. On your file menu, select the document you wish to insert and click "open" or "OK"
    7. "Save" your proposal
    8. Continue with each document you wish to insert into your proposal.

INSERTING .PDF FILES INTO YOUR PROPOSAL

    1. Open the .pdf file you wish to insert into your proposal
    2. Select the "camera" or "photo" on the tool bar
    3. Click and drag the cursor from the upper left hand corner of your .pdf file to the end of the document, thus taking a snapshot of it
    4. Open the proposal and "paste" the snapshot into your proposal
    5. "Save" your proposal

    MAKING A .PDF FILE

    1. Create your document in Word, save.
    2. Select "File" on your toolbar.
    3. Select "Print" on the drop-down menu.
    4. Select "CUTEPDF" from the drop-down menu in the printer selection box.
    5. Click "OK"
    6. Choose where you want to save your .pdf file, name it and click OK.
