Graduate Ceremony

Date: Saturday, May 16, 2009
Location: Tuttle North Ice Arena
Time: 9:15 am (Students, please arrive by 8:30 am for procession line up.)
Parking: Lot V

The College at Brockport is pleased to invite all graduate students, their families and guests to the 59th Graduate Commencement Ceremony in the Tuttle North Ice Arena.

Students should arrive by 8:30 am and go directly to the Tuttle North gym to line up. The student procession into the Ice Arena begins promptly at 9:15 am, so family members and friends should be seated no later than 9 am.

Department faculty will hood each student individually, and their name will be read as they walk across the stage. Graduates will receive a diploma cover, compliments of the Alumni Association, Brockport Student Government, and the College. The ceremony should last no more than 90 minutes. We ask that everyone in attendance—students, family members and guests—remain seated throughout the entire ceremony, until the student recessional has concluded.

Eligibility

Students who are in good academic standing and will complete graduation requirements by August, 2009 must submit a new 2009 Graduate Graduation Data Card (in the current academic year) to the Office of Registration and Records, located in the Rakov Center for Student Services, no later than March 13, 2009. Graduate Graduation Data Cards are the only source for student names that appear in the printed Commencement Program.

Remember, participation in the Commencement ceremony and listing in the program does not constitute graduation or conferral of degree.

Caps and Gowns

All ceremony participants must wear black caps and gowns, which may be purchased at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore in Seymour College Union beginning April 1, 2009. No advance order is necessary as sizes are assigned by height. A master’s set with hood is $62.98. The CAS sash also is available to purchase.

Contact Barnes & Noble Bookstore before April 10, 2009 to order personalized graduation announcements. Commemorative items and gifts also are available for sale. The bookstore is open Friday, May 16, 9 am–6 pm, and Commencement Day, 9 am–4 pm. You also may call the bookstore at (585) 395-2554 for more information.

 Photographs of Graduates

Northeast Photo Network, Inc. takes photographs of graduates as they walk across the stage. Proofs and purchase information will be mailed to the student’s home address in the summer.
