Teacher Certification Ceremony
Date: Friday, May 15, 2009
Location: Seymour College Union, Ballroom
Time: 7 pm (students should arrive by 6:30 pm)
The Department of Education and Human Development is pleased to invite all teacher candidates who have completed certification requirements in either December 2008 or May 2009, or anticipate completion by September 2009, their families and guests to attend the 29th Annual Teacher Certification Ceremony.
Teacher candidates should arrive by 6:30 pm and proceed to the hallway near the offices of Brockport Student Government (BSG) to line up in alphabetically order by program area (e.g. adolescent English). Suitable attire is encouraged. Families and other guests should go directly to the Seymour Union, Ballroom. The Ceremony will beginning with a procession by the teacher candidates.
Keynote Speaker and Other Guests
Mr. Dan Drmacich, principal of Rochester’s School Without Walls will give this year’s keynote address. Shannon Kroeger, the 2009 Ella Petote Ashworth Departmental Scholar, will also address the audience. The Hilltop Singers, from Brockport’s Fred Hill School, will share several musical selections prior to the Ceremony.
Reception
A reception for all teacher candidates and their guests will follow in the Fireside Lounge.
Directions, Parking, and Campus Map
Since traffic delays are unavoidable guests should plan to arrive early to allow extra time to be seated. The Seymour College Union is located just west of the intersections of Residence Drive and Kenyon Street. Parking is available Lots N, N-1, O and P. No parking permit is required for the Certification Ceremony. Get our Campus Map.
