The College at Brockport is pleased to invite all graduate students, their families, and guests to the 63rd Graduate Commencement Ceremony in the SERC House of Fields.
Students should arrive by 4:15 pm and go directly to the Tuttle North Ice Arena to line up. The student procession begins promptly at 5 pm, so family members and friends should be seated no later than 4:45 pm.
Department faculty will hood each student individually, and their name will be read as they walk across the stage. Graduates will receive a diploma cover compliments of the Alumni Association, Brockport Student Government, and the College. The ceremony should last no more than 90 minutes. We ask that everyone in attendance — students, family members, and guests — remain seated throughout the entire ceremony until the student recessional has concluded.
Please note:
You can stay up-to-date on Commencement news by liking B-port Countdown to Commencement on Facebook or by following the Twitter hashtag #bportcommencement. On Commencement day, look for play-by-play updates on Twitter.
The ceremony will be streamed live on the College’s website. Your friends and family will be able to watch you graduate from anywhere in the world. Make sure you invite them to join us!
If you plan on attending the Commencement ceremony in May 2013, the Application for Graduation should be submitted as soon as possible, but no later than April 8, 2013, to ensure that your name will appear in the Commencement program. If you completed your degree in December 2012 or January 2013, or if you will be completing your degree requirements in May 2013 or August 2013, you must complete the online Application for Graduation that can be found at the Campus Information System (Web Banner).
If you have any questions, please email degree@brockport.edu.
Remember, participation in the Commencement ceremony and listing in the program does not constitute official graduation or conferral of degree.
All ceremony participants must wear black caps and gowns, which may be purchased at the
Barnes & Noble College Bookstore
in Seymour College Union beginning April 3. No advance order is necessary as sizes are assigned by height. A master’s set with hood is $62.98. The CAS sash also is available for $19.98.
Balfour will be on campus outside the Bookstore in the Seymour College Union April 3 and 4 from 10 am – 3 pm, taking orders for personal announcements and rings. If you are unable to stop by, contact the Bookstore by April 4 to order personalized announcements, or check the Barnes & Noble College Bookstore website for a link to order online. Generic announcements, commemorative items and gifts are also available for sale at the Bookstore. The Bookstore will be open Friday, May 17, 8:30 am – 6 pm, and Saturday, May 18, 8:30 am – 4 pm. For more information, call the Bookstore at (585) 395-2554.
Northeast Photo Network, Inc. takes photographs of graduates as they walk across the stage. Proofs and purchase information will be mailed to each student’s home address in the summer.
Since traffic delays are unavoidable, guests should plan to arrive early and allow extra time to get seated in the SERC House of Fields.
