The College at Brockport is pleased to invite all graduate students, their families, and guests to the 65th Graduate Commencement Ceremony in the SERC House of Fields.
Students should arrive by 4 pm and go directly to the Tuttle North Ice Arena to line up. The student procession begins promptly at 5 pm, so family members and friends should be seated no later than 4:45 pm.
The Commencement address will be given by dance educator Dr. Barbara Bashaw '89, who will receive an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts.
Department faculty will hood each student individually, and their name will be read as they walk across the stage. Graduates will receive a diploma cover compliments of the Alumni Association, Brockport Student Government, and the College. The ceremony should last approximately 90 minutes. We ask that everyone in attendance — students, family members, and guests — remain seated throughout the entire ceremony until the student recessional has concluded.
You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter! We will post information and updates daily leading up to Commencement and tweet play-by-play updates on Commencement day.
If you plan on attending the May 2015 Commencement ceremony, the Application for Graduation should be submitted as soon as possible, but no later than April 10, 2015, to ensure that your name will appear in the Commencement program. If you completed your degree in December 2014 or January 2015, or if you will be completing your degree requirements in May 2015, August 2015 or December 2015, you must complete the Application for Graduation online through the Campus Information System (Web Banner).
If you have any questions, please email email@example.com.
Remember, participation in the Commencement ceremony and listing in the program does not constitute official graduation or conferral of degree.
All ceremony participants must wear black caps and gowns, which may be purchased at the Barnes & Noble College Bookstore in Seymour College Union beginning March 30. No advance order is necessary as sizes are assigned by height. A master’s set with hood is $63.98. The Certificate of Advanced Study sash also is available for $21.98.
Balfour will be on campus outside the Bookstore in the Seymour College Union March 9 and 10 from 10 am – 3 pm, taking orders for personal announcements and rings. If you are unable to stop by, contact the Bookstore by April 3 to order personalized announcements, or check the Barnes & Noble College Bookstore website for a link to order online. Generic announcements, commemorative items and gifts are also available for sale at the Bookstore. The Bookstore will be open Friday, May 15, 8:30 am – 6 pm, and Saturday, May 16, 8:30 am – 4 pm. For more information, call the Bookstore at (585) 395-2554.
GradImages® takes photographs of graduates as they walk across the stage. Proofs and purchase information will be mailed to each student’s home address in the summer.
Registering with GradImages® provides the information they need to deliver your graduation proofs to you in a timely manner. Giving them an accurate mailing address and email address will allow them to get your proofs to you on the first try.
The Brockport Alumni Association will host a reception for the new alumni, their families, guests, faculty and staff following the ceremony, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm in the SERC House of Fields. Please join us as we celebrate your success.
Since traffic delays are unavoidable, guests should plan to arrive early and allow extra time to get seated in the SERC House of Fields.
Plan to enter the campus via Commencement Drive (off Route 31). View our campus map customized for this ceremony.
Please park on the west side of the SERC in Lots V or V-1. No parking permit is required.
Mobility impaired guests can be dropped off in the loop outside the SERC main entrance. Guests may use the main entrance or the side entrance to enter the House of Fields. Drivers can park in Lots V or V-1. Handicapped parking spaces are available in Lot V.
Plan to arrive early for the best seating availability. We have ample floor seating for guests with wheelchairs, walkers or other mobility concerns.
Interpreting services will be provided at the ceremony. Two large video screens on either side of the stage will enhance your ceremony viewing.
Deaf students working with the Office for Students with Disabilities may contact the office at (585) 395-5409 regarding specific arrangements. Deaf faculty, staff and visitors who need consultation regarding more specific interpreting accommodations may contact Christa Aldrich in the Affirmative Action Office at (585) 395-5938.

The College at Brockport, like all higher education institutions, is required to report on employment and educational outcomes for new graduates. You will be contacted in fall 2015 as part of Brockport’s annual First Destination Survey. Completing the survey will only take a few moments, and knowing what our graduates are doing is critical for the College. We use aggregate survey responses to provide required information to governmental organizations and accrediting bodies. We also use the information to continue to improve our programmatic offerings as well as to support current students and alumni in pursuing their career goals. First Destination Survey results are available online. Please take a few minutes to respond when you are contacted. If you have any questions, please contact Career Services at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you.
