James Riotto

  
Mr. James L. Riotto Esq., is a duly licensed attorney admitted to practice law in all New York State, Municipal and Justice Courts, as well as the U.S. Federal District Court, Western District of New York.  Mr. Riotto is a graduate of the State University of New York College at Cortland and Albany Law School. He is a member of the New York State and Monroe County Bar Associations. 
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Riotto graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy in Glynco, Georgia with honors, and subsequently took a position as an officer for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He later served as an officer with the New York State Department of Corrections. After serving with the Department, Mr. Riotto became a certified New York State Police Officer at the University Police Department at SUNY Oswego. In 2000, he became a New York State Trooper, specializing in criminal investigations. 
During his law enforcement career, Mr. Riotto graduated from multiple law enforcement training programs by the United States Marshal Service and the United States Secret Service, which provided him with knowledge and experience in the various systems, policies and procedures utilized by New York and federal law enforcement agencies. He is a New York State Certified Instructor and has taught numerous topics to police recruits at the New York State Police Academy, New York State Environmental Police Academy and New York State Park Police Academy.
Mr. Riotto has interned with many state, city, county and federal judges in New York, where he researched various civil and criminal issues and assisted with drafting judicial opinions.  He also worked at the New York State Liquor Authority and with the New York State Attorney General's Office, Criminal Prosecutions Bureau, where he researched investigations, drafted criminal charges and assisted in many high-profile criminal investigations into state agencies, including the New York State Police. Mr. Riotto went on to work at the Albany County District Attorney's Office, Major Offense Bureau.
Currently Mr. Riotto heads a private law firm in Rochester, NY.
