Michael Thomas

Mr. Thomas is a Vietnam Veteran who served in the U.S. Army 
from 1965 to 1968.  He received his Associate's Degree from 
Monroe Community College and his Bachelor's Degree from 
SUNY Geneseo in Liberal Arts. In 1977 he completed the 
Master of Fine Arts Program at the University of Florida 
in Tallahassee.  His teaching experience prior to Brockport
include teaching at Florida State University, Monroe 
Community College and several high schools in the Rochester 
area as a substitute teacher.

In the social work field Mr. Thomas worked for the Department of
Social Services as an Income Maintenance worker.  He also worked for
Genesee Region Home Care where he worked extensively with the families
of terminally ill cancer patients.

Mr. Thomas has been working in the Monroe County Probation Department
from 1983 to the present.  As Probation Officer, he worked in the
Intensive Supervision Unit, supervising felons on probation. 
Currently he is assigned to the Adult Family Services Unit where they
assist victims of family offenses.  In addition, for the last five
years Mr. Thomas has worked at the Genesee Hospital's MEN's Education
for Non-Violence Program.   He also serves on two committees whose
major goal is to stop domestic violence: the New York State Domestic
Violence Reduction Work Group, and the Monroe County Domestic Violence
Consortium.

Mr. Thomas has been an Adjunct Professor at SUNY Brockport since 1993
where he teaches:
