Jeffrey Wicks

Jeffrey Wicks is a private sole practitioner, concentrating in the areas of criminal, family, and civil rights litigation. He is admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the United States District Court and Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of New York, and the State of New York. He graduated from the Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Washington, having received his J.D. in May of 1982.

Mr. Wicks He has been an Adjunct Professor at the State University of New York, College at Brockport in the Criminal Justice Department since 1999. Among the courses he has taught are "Private Security and The Law", "Forensic Evidence in Criminal Cases", "Capital Punishment in America", "Evidence in Criminal Cases", and "Constitutional Criminal Procedure".

He also has been the moderator of two public forums, sponsored by SUNY Brockport, on the Death Penalty: one in November of 2001, and another (co-sponsored with Temple B'rith Kodesh) in January of 2003. He is a frequent lecturer and writer on legal and judicial issues, ethical issues, civil rights issues, death penalty and other criminal justice issues.

Since 2000, he has been a member Attorney Grievance Committee of the Supreme Court Appellate Division, Fourth Judicial Department. He was a member of the Monroe County Bar Association Board of Trustees from 1998-2000. He has been a member of the Monroe County Bar Association Ethics Committee since 1987, and chaired that Committee from 1988-1991.

Mr. Wicks was Counsel to the Monroe County Democratic Committee from 2000 until 2003. He served as Deputy Chair for Judicial Affairs of the Monroe County Democratic Committee from 1990 - 1994, a position specially created for him by then Chairperson Fran Weisberg. He managed the successful campaigns of Monroe County Court Judge William Bristol in 1990 and Monroe County Family Court Judge Joan Kohout in 1989, and served as Leader of the Brighton Democratic Committee from 1988-1990.
