This is Scofield Thayer, friend and patron of Cummings. Thayer partnered with James Sibley Watson, Jr.to acquire The Dial, an influential arts and literary magazine of the time. Thayer struggled with mental illness and spent the majority of his adult life either in institutions or in home care. |

Surface dirt moderate. Support extremely brittle and cannot be handled. Losses bottom right corner, top left corner. Small losses and breaks at edges. Medium sunken in. Oil staining on verso. Horizontal stress cracks throughout verso.
