MFA in Dance

The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Dance is a 60-credit degree in performance and choreography that provides opportunities to work with nationally and internationally recognized choreographers, scholars and teachers.

The 60 credits are distributed as follows:

  1. a core of 9 credits, including courses in dance research, dance history, aesthetics and culture, and field work/teaching practicum;
  2. 15 required credits in dance technique including DNS 545 Graduate Dance Technqiue II, DNS 603 Graduate Dance Technique III and DNS 605 Graduate Dance Technqiue IV, and 554 technique and styles courses;
  3. 24 credits in choreography, performance, dance history and related arts; and
  4. 12 culminating credits of creative project/apprenticeship with its accompanying professional paper and graduate seminar.
