Performance Opportunities

Two female dancersThere are numerous opportunities for graduate dance students to hone their craft throughout the program. Our students have options to perform, choreograph and produce performances each year on the College at Brockport campus. Students also may participate in outside company performances and classes at the invitation of their instructors.

  • DANSCORE: departmental contemporary dance ensemble presents at Hartwell Hall and in Rochester
  • Sankofa: departmental African Dance and Drum Ensemble, 15-20 performances yearly in the Greater Rochester area
  • Guest Artist Concert: including student participation, two to four performances annually
  • Dance/Hartwell and Dance/Strasser concert series: student choreographed and departmentally produced concerts, four concerts annually
  • New Dancers Showcase: presentations by first-year students, two performances annually
  • Dime-a-Dance: informal showings of work in progress
  • Other area dance opportunities: participation in company performances and/or classes is by invitation of their directors (i.e., Garth Fagan Dance, Rochester City Ballet, Drumcliffe School of Irish Dance, Present Tense Dance, Geomantics Dance Theater, BioDance, FuturPointe Dance, James Hansen Dance, Mariah Maloney Dance, Red Dirt Dance/Karl Rogers, Park Avenue Dance Company and other area dance companies)
