Kathy Diehl is a classical ballet instructor and dancer from Rochester, NY. She has been a faculty member at the Timothy M. Draper Center for Dance Education since 1996. She also teaches at Nazareth Academy and recently joined the Department of Dance at SUNY Brockport.

She has been a guest teacher and choreographer at Pittsford Dance Studio, Lynn Scott School of Dance, Little Red School of Dance and Ballet Theater. As one of the original members of the Draper Dance Theater, she performed as a principal and soloist in several productions of The Nutcracker and in numerous original and contemporary works choreographed by Mr. Draper from 1983 to 1989. In 1988, she was chosen to perform the lead role in Sheeps Meadow staged by guest choreographer Christine DiMario.

She completed her B.A. in psychology at SUNY Plattsburgh and subsequently received her Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from Case Western Reserve University. She returned to Rochester in 1995 and worked as a social worker until 2005. During that time, she continued to perform periodically with Rochester City Ballet and the RIT Dance ensemble. She joined Present Tense Dance Company in 1998 and is currently rehearsing for upcoming performances in conjunction with the Rochester Contemporary Dance Collective.

She was recently accepted into the M.F.A. program at SUNY Brockport and will begin coursework in the Fall 2007. She currently resides with her husband and two dogs in Pittsford, NY.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Maura Keefe is a dance writer and historian. She is a Scholar-in-Residence at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, and has led audience programs at Princeton University, UCLA, and the Goethe Institut, as well as for the Paul Taylor Dance Company and the Martha Graham Dance Company. She has an ongoing relationship with the Festival Extremadura in Monterrey, Mexico and has traveled with Dance/USA to lead seminars for regional artists. Her current research investigates the relationships between dance and sports. She has an MFA in choreography and performance from Smith College, and a PhD in dance history and theory from University of California, Riverside. She is an assistant professor of dance at SUNY Brockport.
