Susannah Newman, associate professor emeritus and former graduate program director, came to SUNY Brockport as a university-wide artist and co-founder of the Resident Dance Company.  She has toured the solo work of Viola Farber, Anna Sokolow, Lynn Dally and others, and has choreographed work for DANSCORE, and regional and university companies throughout the US and Europe.  She is a recipient of the prestigious SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching.  She has taught modern dance technique, composition, repertory, dance conditioning/injury prevention, and performance techniques.

Susannah was a founder of the ImageMovementSound Festival which featured works by department choreographers made in collaboration with the Eastman School of Music Composers and the Rochester Institute of Technology film/video and image makers.
