"I have learned how hard work pays off, how teamwork, dedication, a sense of humor and a positive attitude can bring about success. These were valuable lessons."
Because of Delta College’s small class sizes and excellent faculty drawn to
interdisciplinary team-teaching, students fully engage in collaborative,
hands-on learning. With Delta College’s commitment to skill development
and assessment, students develop a competitive edge in a highly cooperative
environment. Therefore,
learning takes place within a
supportive community geared
toward developing academic
excellence through teamwork.
Central to this program is
the emphasis on experiential
learning. All Delta students
engage in a series of three work
experiences — at the local,
national and international
levels — which foster real
world training along with their
academic studies. Consequently,
when Delta students
graduate, they do so with a
transcript, a professional
portfolio and a résumé.
To achieve this, Delta faculty members are mentors and coaches when it comes to “learning how to learn.” The guiding philosophy of this program stresses that a contemporary education should be a reciprocal venture, with its success depending on meaningful interactions between students and professors. Group work is at the heart of Delta’s methodology and mirrors the reality of the working world. Leadership, therefore, is an essential component of this approach, and experience shows just how distinctive our graduates are.
