Emily Carpenter '01, as the Senior Associate Director for the University of Rochester's Career Center, works primarily with undergraduate students in one-to-one counseling appointments and plans large and small scale events, programs, and workshops. Her role is to assist students as they form and implement their career goals. Emily states that she loves her position because college students are so energizing - they are eager to take on the world and her job helps them to develop their potential. Emily states that the Counselor Education program at Brockport gave her the necessary tools to truly hear what her students are saying, to be able to connect with them, and to work with them through the many times that they feel stuck and unsure. Determining your future path and making the transition from college to the real world is wrought with anxiety, resistance, and trepidation. Emily reflects that as a counselor from the College at Brockport she is comfortable working with students on these issues and really enjoys the process and loves watching the outcomes.
