Counselor Education:
Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) for School Counselors
Graduates from SUNY College at Brockport's Master of Science in Education - Counseling, school counselor emphasis, who possess a Provisional Certificate for New York School Counselor, are eligible for the CAS program. Additionally, we encourage applicants wo have graudated from other instutitions who have a valid New York State School Cousnelor Certificate to apply and have their credentials evaluated. Retroactive credit for degrees and/or courses may be given if the degrees and/or courses fit into the current program and if they are similar in conten to those course currently required.
To apply for matriculation into the CAS program, you must submit the following:

Official transcripts of all undegraduate and graduate college work completed.

Three letters of recommendation from individuals competent to comment on your academic and profressionally demonstrated ability.*

College Application for Matriculation.

Copy of NYS School Counselor Provisional Certificate.
* Graduates of the Department of Counselor Education at SUNY College at Brockport do not need to complete Step 2.
