Counselor Education: Student Profiles
My name is Doris Hernández, I am currently a student from SUNY Brockport. I am enrolled in the Counseling Program. I chose counseling because I would like to be a role model for minority students. I think that there is a big need of role models in the community and by pursuing my Master’s in Higher Education I would be assisting students with their academic development as well as with their personal growth. I chose SUNY Brockport’s Counseling Program because they offer one of the best programs in my community. The faculty has been dedicated and supportive in helping me achieve my career goals.
The counselor education program at SUNY Brockport has been one of the most significant learning experiences in my life. The faculty and students bring individual strengths to the classroom experience and, together, work on further developing the student’s natural counseling skills. Through practical experience gained during practicum and internship, I know that I will be well-prepared to enter the field of school counseling upon graduation.
