The George and Mary BAUER EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AWARD

This fund has been established by Mr. and Mrs. Bauer, alumni for the classes of 1963 and 1965 respectively, to recognize and assist a student who has completed at least one semester of study at SUNY Brockport and is pursuing childhood teacher certification with a demonstrated strong interest in early childhood education (N-Grade 3). The award recognizes a student in the elementary education certification program who shows particular interest and potential in early childhood education (N-Grade 3).

Eligibility:

  1. Matriculated in the graduate or undergraduate Early Childhood or Childhood certification programs.
  2. Demonstrates a commitment to early childhood education.

Criteria:

  1. A matriculated student in the Education and Human Development teacher certification program at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  2. Possess a minimum GPA Of 3.0 or higher.
  3. A letter of application for the award that:
    1. Highlights the applicant's academic performance to date.
    2. Describes the applicant's dedication to the teaching profession.
    3. States his/her commitment to completing the degree and goals after completion
  4. Three (3) letters of support from professionals in the field of education who can comment on the merits of the applicant as a potential recipient of the George and Mary Bauer Early Childhood Education Award.
