SUNY Brockport: Expect the Extraordinary!
Academics

Department of Education and Human Development
Scholarships and Awards

The Department of Education and Human Development offers a variety of scholarships and awards for undergraduate and graduate students. Please select from the following programs to view the criteria for each sholarship or award:

Undergraduate Childhood   Graduate Childhood

Undergraduate Adolescence   Graduate Adolescence

When applying for awards in the Department of Education and Human Development, you will be accepting a major responsibility, which must be given careful thought and will require time and energy.  You should keep in mind the fact that the donors of the awards did the same thing – they gave careful thought to the development to the awards in cooperation with the Brockport Foundation.  In doing this, the donors were expressing a commitment of excellence in teacher education; as a recipient you are recognized for your work and efforts here at Brockport.  When pursuing advanced work in your professional area, the award will certainly enhance your academic records.

Please keep the following in mind when applying for a scholarship or award:
  1. A specific application form is required for each award.

  2. A cover letter addressing how you meet the criteria, is required for each award.

  3. Several awards require support materials-an essay, resume, letters of recommendation-it is your responsibility to submit these with your application.

  4. Several awards focus on your experiences with children in the classroom or in other educational settings. If you are applying for any of these awards, it would be useful to submit comments from teachers or other professionals who have observed your work.

  5. Applications are accepted any time up to the due date. Early submission is encouraged.
The application form requests you that list those faculty members from the Department of Education and Human Development who have worked with you.  Please do not contact these professors personally.  The Awards Committee will contact them for their comments.
