THE BLAINE M. DELANCEY AWARD FOR TEACHING EXCELLENCE IN SECONDARY SCHOOL ENGLISH

This award was established by Floy Winks De Lancey, Associate Professor in English from 1942-1967 and her son, Dr. Mark W. De Lancey. This award honors her husband and his father, Dr. Blaine M. De Lancey, Professor of English from 1934-1967 and Chairman of the Department of English from 1934-1966 for his outstanding scholarship in the field of teaching English. The Blaine M. De Lancey Award for Teaching Excellence in Secondary School English recognizes an outstanding teacher of secondary English, grades 7-12.

Eligibility:

  1. Certified high school teacher of Secondary English, grades 7-12.
  2. Currently employed as a Secondary English Teacher.
  3. Matriculated in Master of Science in Education: Secondary English Program at State University of New York College at Brockport.

Criteria:

  1. Exemplifies outstanding command of English speech and writing.
  2. Inspires students to speak and write English of noteworthy quality.
  3. Engages students in the discovery of personal values to be found in major areas of English literature and composition.
  4. Shows potential for continuing growth in the field of teaching English.
  5. Exemplifies a positive, cooperative attitude toward students and colleagues.
