THE ELLA POTOTE ASHWORTH DEPARTMENTAL SCHOLAR AWARD

The Departmental Scholar Award recognizes an outstanding senior who has a minimum GPA of 3.75 and has demonstrated exceptional performance in student teaching. The award in funded by Ella Potote Ashworth, a 1933 alumna, who taught in the Niagara Falls District for 42 years.

Eligibility:

  1. A full-time senior as defined by graduate date of May of the year Honor’s Convocation is held or a graduation date of December of August of the preceding year.
  2. Registered in a teacher certification program in the Department of Education and Human Development.
  3. A minimum of four (4) semesters at Brockport and having taken all education courses in registered certification program at Brockport.
  4. A minimum GPA 3.75 and no grade below a “B” in education courses.

Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated exceptional performance in student teaching as defined by the statement “consistently exceeds performance level of that expected of a beginning teacher.”
