Course selection FAQ for Non-Matriculated Students
Q. If I am accepted into a graduate program in the Department of Education and Human Development, how many credits may I transfer toward my Plan of Study?
A. You may only transfer 12 credits (total) to apply to your Plan of Study if you are accepted into the program. No more than 9 of those credits may be taken as a non-matriculated student at SUNY College at Brockport.
Q. Is there a minimum grade requirement for transfer courses?
A. Yes. In order for a course to be transferable, you must earn a minimum grade of B. This includes all courses taken in non-matriculated status at SUNY College at Brockport.
Q. I am trying to register for a course and need a permission key. How do I get a permission key number?
A. If you need a permission key to register for a course, you will need to contact the instructor for the course. Please refer first to the Faculty/Staff Directory for the faculty phone number. If you are unsuccessful at locating a phone number on this website, you may request the phone number for EHD adjunct faculty by calling either of the department secretaries at 395-2205 or 395-5060.
Q. I want to register for a course, but it requires departmental approval or it is open to matriculated students only (these courses have a D or M notation). How do I get departmental approval?
A. Unfortunately, you may not have departmental approval as a non-matriculated student. These courses are offered to matriculated students only.
Q. What is the definition of an elective course?
A. An elective, in most programs, may be any graduate level course offered by any academic department.
