We will hold other Van Safety Training sessions, as the need arises. Be sure to submit a LENS request to Human Resources as soon as possible, if this is your intial training and you are NOT already in the LENS system – see below.
NO FEE IS REQUIRED. The training involves a classroom session as well as a short road test (for the initial training session).
PLEASE NOTE: This training is REQUIRED by The College at Brockport policy in order for any individual to rent/lease ANY state owned van, regardless of size.
The Van Certification process also requires a License Event Notification System (LENS) check through DMV. This process will be conducted by our Human Resources department in order to protect the confidentiality of this information. We ask that you complete the LENS REQUEST FORM AS SOON as POSSIBLE as this process can take 4-6 weeks.
The form is also available at Human Resources and Facilities and Planning. Please visit the Facilities and Planning web site (www.brockport.edu/facilities) for more information on Guidelines for Using a State Fleet Vehicle, Vehicle Request Forms, and SUNY Brockport Vehicle Requests.
Please pass this important information along to any of your employees or colleagues that may need to receive this training, and are not on this distribution list.
To register for one of these courses please contact Amy Perkins at X2907 or e-mail at aperkins@brockport.edu. The class size is limited to 20, so you do need to register.
Please let us know, as soon as possible, if you cannot make a training session you have registered for so we may accommodate others.
The current training sessions scheduled, as follows:.
CPR/AED TRAINING SCHEDULE:
Thursday Oct. 22, 1-3pm
Wednesday Nov. 18, 1-3pm
Tuesday Dec. 15, 9-11am
All training sessions will be held in the Cooper Hall Judo Club located in room D12 of Cooper Hall. Please access the training room by going down the hall from the ROTC office, which is to the left of the elevator. Signs will be posted to help direct you. The training will take place on the mats to offer cushion for your knees, but be aware shoes are not allowed on the mats so be prepared to take them off.
You will need to register for these classes. You can do this by calling Amy Perkins at 395-2907 or e-mail her at aperkins@brockport.edu. Class size is limited to 10 people so it is important to register as soon as possible. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Your department or supervisor should allow time during work to attend this traning, as it benefits the entire campus community. More training sessions will be offered in the future for those who are interested. We ask that if you can't make a scheduled training session, you contact the Office of EHS so others may be offered the spot vacated.
Training was held on August 15th and was successful.
Please check back soon for future training.

The College at Brockport EHS will also offer (highly recommended) a basic Right-to-Know workshop for those who are not really familiar with the basics of chemical safety, exposure routes, toxicology and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). If you have not been previously trained on or have forgotten the basics of art product safety, you should plan to attend one of these workshops. Classes will be scheduled in the future.
