Students who come to Brockport for graduate studies in English work closely with a faculty of active writers--including scholars, critics, and writers of memoir, fiction, and poetry.
Our program of about seventy graduate students includes both full-time and part-time students. Some of our students are teachers; some go on to further study, pursuing either a Ph.D. or an M.F.A. Most classes take place in the evenings. Graduate seminars of twelve to fifteen students offer an intense, challenging opportunity for advanced study.

The program offers a number of opportunites for financial support. For candidates exhibiting superior promise, there are three graduate assistantships. Each provides a stipend of $6,000 and a tuition waiver of up to nine credits per semester. Apply here
The Hannelore and William Heyen Graduate Scholarships in Creative Writing are awarded to two students each year.
