SUMMER PROGRAM ROCKS BROCKPORT CAMPUS
Once again, the Summer Program 2005 marks another great accomplishment for the Educational Opportunity Program at SUNY Brockport. This year, the program superseded last year’s numbers, by bringing in 74 new freshmen to the College.
The summer program serves as an opportunity for new incoming EOP freshmen to acclimate to the college life. During the four-week program, students take courses in math, history, English and computer skills to give them a head start for the fall semester. As was the case the past two years, this year the program achieved a 100 percent passing rate for the Computer Skills Exam. Congratulations to all our students!
But not all is work in the summer program. We believe that in order for students to adjust to their new surroundings, we need to provide them with a complete picture of what college life is like. Which included activities such as, movie night at the Brockport Strand, bowling at Ridgeway Bowl, the EOP Family Picnic at Corbett Park, a trip to Greece Ridge Mall and a fun day at Six Flags Darien Lake. Our students also got a taste of Rochester’s premiere Geva Theatre as they enjoyed this summer featured musical, The Chorus Line. Congratulations to all Summer Program participants for making this year’s program a successful one. Welcome back to SUNY Brockport and best wishes for the 2005-2006 academic year.
