FINANCIAL AID REPORT

ATTENTION ALL EOP STUDENTS

The end of the semester will quickly be here. This is a very busy time in regards to your financial aid. There are vital tasks you need to accomplish prior to leaving for the Christmas break. There are equally important tasks you need to accomplish during the break.

The following are tasks to complete prior to leaving for the break:

Make sure that you affirm your enrollment as soon as you register for the spring’ 06 term. This locks in your courses. YOU MUST BE REGESTERED AND AFFIRMED IN ORDER TO RECEIVE YOUR LAST EOP CHECK.

Make sure you are aware of any outstanding charges you may owe the College. An outstanding balance can prevent you from registering.

Make sure you examine your Spring’06 student bill very carefully. Pay particular attention to optional fees, Easy Money, and the possibility of adjusting your spring meal plan to save money.

If you are graduating, make sure you complete your exit interviews.

The following are tasks to complete during the Christmas vacation:

Make sure you and any applicable parent complete your taxes ASAP. You will need this information to accurately complete your FAFSA/TAP applications. If you or your parents don’t file taxes, you can obtain the non-filer statement(s) on line at www.brockport.edu/finaid. Make sure they are for the 2006/07 academic year.

If you have had a dependency override in the past, you must request the override again for the 2006/07 academic year. Visit the financial aid office and request a “Dependency override situation remains the same” form (Form I12). Remember: you must file a paper FAFSA if you have had a dependency override.

If you and/or your family are receiving income such as social security, social services, etc., you will need to gather your proof of income documentation at this time as well.

ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT YOU MUST PROVIDE ACCURATE, DOCUMENTED INFORMATION ON YOUR FAFSA/TAP APPLICATIONS. DO NOT USE ESTIMATES.

If you don’t have your FAFSA PIN number, go to www.pin.ed.gov and obtain it during January. As a returning student you will need this number to electronically sign your on-line FAFSA. Your parent may also apply for a PIN.

If you receive a check from the College during the break, make sure you confirm the validity of the amount before you cash it. Sometimes mistakes are made and you could end up owing the College money.
