Financial Aid News
For The Record...
Hopefully by now you have all experienced a smooth start to the new year. As you are all aware, the financial aid process is an ongoing one. There are always things about which you need to be aware and tasks you need to accomplish…
- You want to make absolutely sure that you have satisfied all of your process obligations (ex. Promissory Notes). Sometimes new obligations arise as you work your way through the process. You should check with your counselor on a regular basis to make sure you know where you are.
- If you are planning on returning next year, you should start planning now for the financial aid application process. Make sure your parents are aware of the application process and required documents. Make sure you know what is going on also.
- Make sure you are aware of your TAP status. Your GPA, fulltime/part-time status, and accumulated credit total can all impact your TAP status. Make sure you work with your counselor so you thoroughly understand your status.
- Your student bill is another ongoing process. Make sure you and your counselor have discussed your status concerning the mandatory health insurance.
- Always remember that any charges you incur can impact any anticipated credit balance disbursements and/or personal liability for the charges. For those of you getting a refund, make sure you talk with your counselor about the refund and that it is accurate. Do you really need the whole thing? Should you use some/all of it to pay down your loans?
- Your financial aid and student bill are vital parts of your college experience. You want to be very proactive in ensuring that you understand and monitor both of them.
Have a good financial aid year!
