Guess Who's Got a Cell Phone

No one is probably more “wicked” busy than EOP Associate Director, Barb LeSavoy.  In this day and age, mostly everyone has a cell phone. On the contrary, Ms. LeSavoy has been a part of the counter culture, until now.  The demands of both work and family have made having a cell phone a necessity. Now, even Barbara LeSavoy is a part of the “cell phone” generation.  Reporter Stefan McDonald sat down with Barbara to get the scoop on how her new cell phone has impacted her life.

EOP: So, tell me more about this cell phone.

Barb:
Major, major change in my whole life.  It’s a      Cingular.

EOP: So you have the family plan?

Barb:
Yep.  One for me and one for John.  You know, I’m getting with 2006.  I’ve always been anti-cell phone.

EOP: Sort of like you don’t want to be like everyone else.

Barb:
I don’t want to be reached by people when I am not at home or work.  I don’t want people to have 24-hour access to me, so that’s my big negative.  And I always felt that if somebody wants to reach me, they can call me at home or they can call me at my office; or I’ll call them back, so why should I have to be reached all the time?  But now it’s more about the kids and if there is an emergency at school.  It’s all about the kids.

EOP: Yeah, it’s pretty much a necessity now.

Barb:
But I’m pretty anti-cell phone.  I’ve been very anti-cell phone because my life is so busy.  I don't want to add one more thing to it that would add a stress factor.  If I get called about a work issue while I was doing something, it would be fine, but if it were stress issues… that’s another thing that I’m a little afraid of.

EOP: I don’t blame you.  That little time you do have, you want to keep it.  I just want to thank you for your time and good luck.
