Educational Opportunity Program

April 2007 EOP Newsletter

We Love You Ana… Always and Forever

Dear family:

I want to take this space in the last newsletter of the spring semester to express my heartfelt love and gratitude to the program, the staff, and most importantly all the students who have been a part of my life here at SUNY Brockport. As I leave such a great part of my life journey behind, I can’t help but remember all the wonderful memories I’ve shared with so many of you. From my $700 cab ride that fateful summer weekend before the start of my first semester as an EOP student — Don’t judge me, I really-really wanted to come to college — to my two graduations from Brockport and countless lunch dates at Ho Ho’s Chinese Buffet with Dan and Tasha, EOP has been instrumental in my success both as a student and now as a professional. I gained a family that has transcended beyond my college years and will last me a lifetime.

Coming back from the Tri-State Conference a couple of days ago, I felt so proud to not only be a product of such a program, but also to have contributed and given back a little. I have to share that my commitment to giving back to opportunity programs will not end with my departure from Brockport and hope that neither does yours when it’s your time to leave this chapter of your life.

Thank you to all those who have given me support throughout the years, EOP, the Counselor Education program, Office of Career Services, especially Claire and Tammy, Mr. Owens, Tasha, the GAs, but most importantly, Dan Askey and Michael Brown for seeing in me what I sometimes didn’t see myself, the good and the downright crazy.

I wish you all much success in everything you do, and although I’ll be going to a much warmer place to pursue my educational goals, Brockport and EOP will never be far from my mind. Remember, we are family and family never forgets.
Much love,

Ana
